    Vans Old Skool History:

The Vans Old Skool history began way back, in 1977. So, that is more than 40 years. The shoe was originally released with a different name. Back in the 1970s, the Old Skool was known as Vans’ “Style 36”. It was also one of the first ever models to have the now famous Vans side-stripe.

Curious fact: the Vans side-stripe was originally just a plain old doodle drawn by Paul Van Doren (founder of the company). It was initially referred to as the “jazz stripe”.

Since then, Vans and some of the brand’s most iconic models have become part of multiple subcultures. Skaters, BMX riders, rockers, plain cool people, teens, and adults have dared to try the Old Skool.

The Vans Old Skool has been around since the late 70s, so it has been a part of the life of at least two generations. If we consider how different and distinct those generations have been, and just how “what is cool” conventions have evolved, its permanence is even more astounding.

During recent years, there have also been some memorable collaborations and special releases of the Vans Old Skool. Highlights include the Gosha Rubchinskiy X Vans Old Skool LX, the Vans x Brain Dead Capsule Collection, or the Odd Future x Vans Syndicate Old Skool Pro S.

    The future:

For Vans, to have a shoe like the Old Skool is almost like a bonus. It seems like everyone is getting tired of checking out the same retro shoes of the big brands and are now turning to the smaller ones.

Perhaps it’s because it’s more authentic, perhaps it is just a new wave or maybe it is also and just because of the Vans Old Skool price. Considering, and even if there are a lot of pricey versions of the model (namely collaborations are more premium takes), the Old Skool is like the ultimate perfect option.

All those looking for a clean, comfortable and stylish pair of sneakers have a choice. Now and in the future, it seems that the Vans Old Skool will always be here (and that is really a good thing).
