20th anniversary: Kasina collaborates with adidas
The adidas Consortium x Kasina Superstar BOOST is the ultimate outcome of the project. The main idea was to create a Consortium Superstar Boost, taking inspiration from Korea’s artisanal heritage and legacy.
About the adidas Superstar:
As we know, even though the Superstar has become mainstream. The silhouette was the first low-top basketball shoe to feature an all leather upper.
Known as the “shell-toe”, this particular model was worn by many NBA players, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, for instance. The Superstar was so powerful and popular that in 1983 Run D.M.C was giving concerts with them on.
By then refusing to conform to what we know today as “standards”. The hip-hop trio even released a song in 1986 named “My Adidas” and a few years later, the three-stripes signed an advertising deal with the group.
After all, the Shell Toe has become part of the youth fashion routine. This is what we see right here with this collaboration – a classic silhouette with a modern twist. The Kasina Superstar comes with a Boost midsole altogether with a white nubuck upper.
Inspired by Taesahae, a type of traditional footwear built by craftsmen for Korean nobleman, details are seen on stitching as well as a classic leather shell toe. In addition, we can find “1997” close to the heel, which displays the year that Kasina was founded.
The adidas Consortium x Kasina Superstar BOOST will be available by 21 of October at select Consortium accounts around the globe.
