There’s a couple of big releases happening this upcoming weekend, but one that most will have their eyes on is the brand new Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Gym Red. Although new in color blocking, this new Jordan Brand release is yet another Air Jordan 1 done in some kind of color combination that used Red, Black and White.
Donning an official colorway listed as Black/White/Sail/Gym Red, this iteration of the model pays homage to Jordan Brand and MJ’s heritage as being trendsetters. Before the Air Jordan 1 made its debut during the mid ’80’s, game shoes in the league were mostly White due to the strict rules at the time. In an effort to stand out from the crowd, Nike/Jordan Brand dropped the Air Jordan 1 in multiple colors even though that led to a $5000 dollar fine per game. This decision laid the foundation for what sneaker culture would become.
Colored in three tones across its leather construction — the Jordan 1 comes with White on the side panels and toe box, followed by Black overlays across, as well as on the tongues. Adding some color to the shoe are the hits of Red on the Swooshes, collar area and Nike Air branded tongue labels. Below you will find a Sail-colored midsole and Black rubber outsole that tops it all off.
Retailing for $160, look for this Air Jordan 1 at select Jordan Brand stores and online on June 29. Will you be picking up a pair or are you growing tired of the the Black, Red and White motif on the Air Jordan 1?
Speaking of Bred Jordan 1s, is this Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Gym Red better that the Bred Toe 1s that dropped last year?
