    Diadora: more than just heritage

The Italian brand Diadora was founded just after the Second World War, in 1948. The brand started by dedicating almost exclusively to the creation and production of hiking, skiing, and mountaineering boots.

However, and not long after, they decided to broaden their portfolio and started producing running and also tennis shoes. Diadora is for sure one of the most important footwear brands there is. One with a great tradition and background that goes way beyond mountain sports and embraces football, tennis and other sports.

As mentioned, Diadora’s first ever product had nothing to do with shoes. The label’s first “invention” was a special pair of hiking boots. All of this happened way back and soon after the brand’s foundation, during the 1950s.

Diadora: giving the people what they want

Before getting into the “athletic scene”, Marcello Danieli (Diadora’s founder) started by studying and observing what people really needed. Mr. Marcello Danieli then followed one of the most important principles there is when it comes to all things business: find out what your customer wants and just provide it.

With the rise of sports and of sportswear fans all around the world, Diadora decided to go ahead and create athletic shoes. The plan was to create more than just runners. One of the greater examples of this is their connection with tennis.

Diadora connected with Björn Borg, a Swedish professional tennis player. Soon after, Borg presented his very own signature shoe. Later on, and over the years, the Borg Elite became the brand’s most notable pieces of footwear.
