END. x ASICS Gel Lyte III “Wasabi”

Serving up a fashion-food fusion, and packed with flavor, END. is set to the release the ASICS Gel-Lyte III “Wasabi” in collaboration with ASICS. The one and only Asics GL3 was the chosen model to exhibit such a theme.

Unfortunately for many, ASICS has been hiding under a rock since 2015. We can easily say since the Gel Lyte III 25th Anniversary. On the other hand, their true followers have kept enjoying most of their releases. Especially with the recent introduction of the Gel Mai.

A real Wasabi tribute pair of sneakers

Considered one of the most coveted silhouettes of all time, the “Wasabi” is delivered in a premium nubuck upper, representing the sea-foam green color of wasabi. ASICS stripes display a gun-metal grey colorway, resembling the rocky regions in which the herb grows.

Peach accents and details reflect the classic combination of sashimi, wasabi and pink pickled ginger that you can find at any given sushi restaurant. END. ‘s middle name are details, hence, they are finished with an END. Japanese character on the tongue, dual-branded leather insole, and heel patch.

The shoes shall be delivered in a custom box complete with END. branded wasabi bowl and chopsticks.

END. x GL3 Wasabi is a future classic:

Apart from believing that this collaboration, in particular, will be a future classic, it is inspired by the flavor and looks of the native Japanese herb wasabi. Designed to whet the appetite of sushi enthusiasts around the world, this is the best Gel Lyte III we have seen in recent times.

Already available for registration on END. Launches. The official release is set to happen on March 8. If you are a fan of all collaborations done by END. make sure to check out their latest project with Vans.

    Asics Gel-Lyte Forever

Running silhouettes are usually worn, on a daily basis, by normal people. Sure, back then they were worn on the tracks, but that’s just a fun fact.

Specifically, the ASICS Gel-Lyte III is a sneaker that even if popular now, it had its downside. Originally released in 1990, the midsole was chunkier than most runners.

Nevertheless, the split-tongue is still considered a unique approach. But, as soon as it was released, the Japanese brand moved straight away on to the Gel Lyte Ultra.

Look it up, you will find similar aesthetics when comparing to the Gel Lyte V. Now more than ever, the ASICS Gel Lyte III is considered one of the best silhouettes of all time, for many different reasons.

Put aside all the hyped collaborations, from Ronnie Fieg to the AFEW “Koi”, and the silhouette still looks great. In fact, their sales were at its highest during 2015, although, that did not last long.
