Extra Butter x Saucony: a real collaborative sneaker
When it comes to sneaker collaborations, Extra Butter is certainly not a stranger. The New York based boutique has worked with brands such as adidas Originals, ASICS, Sperry, and more to create some of the most sought out collaborations of 2015.
For its latest project, Extra Butter is teaming up with Saucony Originals to create the first truly “collaborative” sneaker.
Extra Butter New York and the people
The project, dubbed “Extra Butter For The People”, is a tribute to the upcoming 2016 election. It draws influence from design concepts such as American Gothic, Greasers, and the American workforce.
Using Extra Butter’s Instagram account and real-time broadcasting app, Periscope, loyal followers of the store are able to collectively vote on design elements such as the colorway, material choice, and even the shoe model. To date, followers have selected the Saucony Shadow 5000 to be the shoe model and “Drive-In Theatres” to be the theme.
