This past week, sneaker retailer Foot Locker Inc. announced their 2021 Q1 Earnings Report discussing their successes, failures, and upcoming strategies for the year. Perhaps one of the most significant details written in the report, Footlocker CEO and Chairmen Dick Johnson has decided to morph a third of Footaction stores into existing Footlocker and Champ Sports franchises while the other two-thirds are set to disappear within the upcoming two years. Below is a quote from Johnson discussing the impending actions.
“We are currently in the process of assessing the Footaction fleet to determine the best decision for each location. Approximately one-third of the top performance Footaction locations will be made into new Foot Locker stores establishing a bolder women’s and kids presence, as well as new Champ Sports and Kids Foot Locker stores. We are excited about the opportunities to expand our women’s and kids presence within our Foot Locker and Champs Sports stores.”
