Luxury brand sneakers have been the wave in the sneaker community as of late. With Prada teaming up with adidas and Dior joining forces with Jordan Brand, it seems as if high-end brands are looking to cement a spot in the sneaker community. That being said, luxury brands have been releasing their own non-collaborative sneakers for quite some time now, way before the aforementioned collaborations. Take for example this brand new colorway of the Gucci G-Line Runner.
Shown up top (and below), this made in Italy Gucci kick takes its inspiration from retro sportswear. Constructed out of mixture of leather and mesh, the shoe comes with a White base that’s then contrasted by the hits of Athletic Blue, Orange and Green placed on either the upper or sole of the shoe. Other details on the shoe include both the futuristic and traditional branding, the terry cloth lining and gum rubber soles. Retailing for £610, the Gucci G-Line Runner in White can now be found at select premium retailers such as END.
With that all being said, what are your thoughts on these recent collabs with high-fashion brands? In your opinion, do they deserve a place in sneaker culture? Let me play fashion designer for a quick second. Do these Gucci sneakers combine well with the new Beams Plus Crazy Cord Shirt?
