Nike presents the Air More Uptempo ’96 “Light Bone”

The Nike Air More Uptempo ’96 ‘Light Bone’ is just the latest of a series of successive iterations of the super bulky and 90s looking Uptempo. Ever since it was first released, the Uptempo is better known as Scottie Pippen’s shoe.

However, the fact is that Mr. Pippen’s signature shoe is, in fact, another one. The “real” Nike Air Pippen can be seen here.

Nike Air More Uptempo Background and History:

The Nike Uptempo is a basketball silhouette introduced back in 1996. The Nike Uptempo history has stretched for more than 20 years, and it has definitely been a rich one.

The Nike Air More Uptempo Bulls, the Uptempo Olympic, or the Uptempo Scottie Pippen are just three of its most notable versions. The Uptempo is all being plain straightforward, with its big “AIR” lettering on the side. Inspired by 90s graffiti and pop art.

Worn by Scottie Pippen and designed by Wilson Smith, the silhouette has seen a retro release in 2016. The Nike Air More Uptempo 2016 continues to look as fierce on the streets as it does on the court.

As said, and even if the model is clearly associated with Scottie Pippen, the fact is that this has never been his signature shoe. The Nike Air Pippen 1 was only officially released in 1997.

Oregon’s finest decided to pay homage to Mr. Pippen by releasing a version of the Air More Uptempo in a Chicago Bulls white/black/red colorway altogether with his logo on the back.
