After a bit of confusion regarding the actual release info for the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low Dark Powder Blue, Nike has finally given us an official release date. Slated to drop next week, here are official images of the UNC-inspired Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low.
The Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low Dark Powder Blue is designed by legendary skateboarder Eric Koston. According to Nike’s official product description, the sneakers were inspired by a pair of Jordan 1s that Koston wanted as a kid but that his mom wouldn’t buy despite a sale price of $24.99. He recalls sitting on the rack, with the lids cut off the box, that his mom wouldn’t buy for him because “the shoes he had were fine”.
Dressed in UNC colors and color blocking, the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low features a longer vamp, resized swoosh and a full leather upper. Koston’s signature is implemented on the inside tongue label and when flipped, “$24.99” is noted on the underside to reflect the price for that pair back in 1986. Although Koston wasn’t able to get his sneaker off the rack 33 years ago, he now gets to design his very own pair paying homage to that part of his childhood. Crazy how life works out sometimes, right?
The Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low Dark Powder Blue will retail for $110 and will be available at select Nike stores and online on August 12. Skater and Jordan-heads alike, will you be going after a pair?
If you has to pick between two upcoming Nike SB releases, would you go with this pair or one of the colorways of the forthcoming Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low Pack? Personally, I’d have to go with this pair. The backstory behind the sneaker and the OG UNC vibes, how can you not like this release?
