But, we manage to cobble together a fairly comprehensive list of the best selling adidas shoes of all time.

Even after the incredible success of models such as the adidas UltraBOOST, the fact is that adidas’ success is way beyond a single model. adidas’s name in the history of sneakers rings through decades and decades. In that time, we see some incredible releases and inspiring designs.

In doing so, a few things are immediately clear. Primarily, this brand has a rich history by way of innovative designs and cultural relevance. What is particularly astounding for adidas is how ahead of the curve so many of their products are.

As it turns out, the Three Stripes hasn’t always been living in Nike’s shadow. On the contrary, the brand spends quite some time cultivating a following and growing it progressively.

Now, as you look through this list, you’ll notice a few things. The main aspect here is that all of the shoes we mention are what some consider to be “retro” or old school.

Well, when you’ve got such an expansive catalog, that’s pretty unavoidable. Check our list of the top ten adidas shoes.

Top 10 Best Selling Adidas Shoes

#1 Adidas Superstar

adidas Superstar OG White and Black

Source: Adidas

Let’s kick things off with one of the kings of classic sneakers. The Superstar has been around for what feels like the entirety of the shoe game itself. In 1969, the hoops world falls in love with the Superstar as the latest basketball sneaker from adidas. The brand drops these on the back of the Pro Model, a higher cut model.

Interestingly, all of the design details that make this shoe so wearable makes the perfect hoops shoe in the early 70s. Leather build on the upper adds durability, the rubber soles provide ample traction, and a modest helping of EVA makes for impact protection.

These are all of the traits that make it a banger off the court as well, The Superstar sits as more than one of the best selling adidas shoes of all time. It claims a spot on the list of sneakers from any brand.

#2 Adidas Stan Smith

You only need a few guesses to get this one right. The adidas Stan Smith is a legitimately unavoidable part of this list. Historically, this shoe means quite a bit to its specific sport. When the Stan Smith drops, it debuts as the brand’s major answer to the needs of the pro tennis player. Oddly enough, those needs mirror that of basketball players as well.

The resulting design consequently boasts a few similar qualities. The leather upper is a bit more simplistic, accompanying minimalist design cues and an EVA midsole.

The Stan Smith comes about in an interesting time for tennis. Having seen some considerable growth in popularity, there was a growing number of sponsored athletes in the game.

The Stan Smith meets the game’s conservative visual requirements and somehow becomes an iconic silhouette in the process.

#3 Adidas Samba

adidas Samba OG Core Black

To put it mildly, the adidas Samba has a story-worthy history. Sneaker fans recognize the Samba as more of a functional soccer shoe. Though it has its roots in the sport, there’s more to it.

The Samba debuts back in 1950 as a performance shoe meant for soccer players, but it takes on new meaning in countries such as England. Here, the Samba is the shoe of choice for a group known as the “casuals.”

These are a collective of soccer fans who are passionate, rowdy, and loud. They eventually become a known nuisance among football fans but manage to avoid being caught thanks to disguises that make them seem like “dandies” or well-off people.

The Samba, black leather and all, is a big part of this disguise. It also became one of the best selling adidas shoes of all time thanks to its leather build and usually Gum outsole.

#4 Adidas LA

adidas originals la trainer og

adidas Originals LA trainer OG

The adidas LA is something of a surprise on this list for some. The brand is known more so for its strong collection of 90s adidas shoes. But, the LA model’s 1984 debut was just as important to its history, making it one of the best selling adidas shoes of all time.

Like many adidas releases, this sneaker aims to break some 80s trends. Moreover, it’s looking to set a few as well. In that light, the key feature of this design is an adjustable cushion system which operates via pegs on the midsole.

#5 Adidas Stockholm

Best Selling Adidas Shoes of All Time

This model is popular through history for the same reason as other old-school adidas shoes. The minimalism translates over time. Everyone loves a crisp upper and grippy sole. After all, that’s the foundation of just about any top-tier sneaker.

To add on to that, the adidas Stockholm features a colorway that is a shout out to the Swedish flag. This only adds to its overall appeal, making it an easy seller.

In a more modern context, it’s easy to see why this model would continue to sell well. The combination of colors on the upper are among the more popular looks for any shoe.

#6 Adidas Trimm Trab

adidas trim trabb

This shoe could be what set the precedent for the modern adidas runner. The Trimm Trab looks and feels more like a casual sneaker, one you’d cop for a night out. In fact, the build comes with that sort of purpose in mind.

But, there’s a particular design feature that separates it from the non-sports crowd. The midsole here makes good use of Polyurethane, making for a surprisingly stable and shock-absorbent cushioning system.

This sort of character makes the Trimm Trab an originator of some of the best selling adidas running shoes as well. It may not be the perfect companion for a run at you local park these days.

Nonetheless, this design seems to inspire a ton of the more elite functional models we see from adidas today. And, of course, it’s got a frame and colorway choice that is pretty easy on the eyes as well.

#8 Adidas Gazelle

adidas Gazelle Triple White

adidas Gazelle Triple White (Shelflife)

The adidas Gazelle is a relatively early example of the brand’s mastery of running sneakers. This shoe earns a reputation more for how affordable and dynamic it is as a style item these days.

The array of color choices, most of which are bold in their finishes, makes the Gazelle something of a visual stunner. The most notable iteration of this sneaker is the one we all know it for: Blue Suede.

This colorway persists as one of the brand’s top sellers among any shoe because it also appeals to those of us who aren’t shoe fanatics. It’s very similar to models such as the Superstar and Stan Smith in this way. The appeal is universal rather than niche.

The choice to go with suede for this shoe is an interesting one for adidas. Early on, this isn’t exactly a home run of a material pick. Suede is a respectable durability option, but not quite as popular more synthetic choices in the 60s.

When the shoe debuts in 1968, that story changes. The release of the Gazelle just happens to foreshadow the arms race of suede uppers among running shoe designers in the 1970s and 80s.

Where to Buy:

#9 Adidas SL72

adidas sl vintage 72Releasing back in 1972, this sneaker rarely receives much mention. The adidas SL72 is a rare name in discussions on this very topic due to its low profile status. In totality, it’s a bit of an underwhelming build. Synthetic base, suede overlays, it’s all fairly standard.

And yet, it stands as one of the best selling adidas shoes of all time. Some of that has to do with the more underappreciated design qualities. For instance, the toe area.

Just below the first layer of overlays is a furry suede section. An educated guess would suggest this was something of an attempt at a mudguard. The traction is another impressive addition here.

It’s fairly grippy, even today. Back when it debuts, that outsole leads the charge in the market’s collection of elite traction models.

The synthetic base also makes for a durable shoe with a versatile color profile. This is the sort of thinking and design that goes into similar shoes, such as the adidas Haven.

#10 Adidas Italia

adidas italia

The Italia model mirrors other old-school adidas silhouettes in its reasons for popularity. Historically, it debuts back in the 1960s. The adidas Italia becomes so popular that it becomes the primary shoe of Olympians during the Games in Rome.

Now, a couple things are noteworthy when considering these early designs. Before the 1990s, sneaker collecting wasn’t really a major marketing presence. The sort of efforts you see today, making sneaker collection-friendly is far from the case back in the earlier days.

Instead, there is a focus on the opposite. For most consumers, purchasing a sneaker means you’re buying something you’re going to keep for years to come.

In that light, shoes like the Italia come with hard-wearing designs. The combination of materials and durable construction add to a shoe’s longevity. It’s also what makes the Italia so popular among both Three Stripes fans and sneakerheads in particular.

#11 Adidas Forest Hills OG

adidas forest hills og

The Forrest Hills is a slightly newer model than some of the others on this list. Nonetheless, there’s plenty to explain its popularity. This is yet another tennis model, one of many that adidas claims. Of course, each one of those releases takes the example of the Stan Smith, the OG tennis shoe.

But, models such as the adidas Forest Hills also stand alone to some degree. When adidas initially begins experimenting with the tennis shoe, there are few risks in their efforts.

After all, this is a notably conservative sport and the better call was always to, if you will, keep it between the lines. In a bit of a contrast to that, the Forest Hills design comes with some eye-popping characteristics.

The insole is reportedly in a ‘space-proven’ material. The sole is in a whopping 246-gram cup style build. Both of these features are, at the time, trailblazers in tennis sneaker tech.

The shoe takes its name from the US Open location in Queens, New York. Fortunately for diehard Three Stripes fans, this shoe also returns to us this year as a retro drop. The classics never quite die, do they?

Adidas Looking Ahead

adidas originals nmd x bape

It’s odd to have the modern adidas catalog as an honorable mention on any list. Yet, this is a unique situation.

The brand’s history in the sneaker game is so deep that there are enough OG models for us to talk about for ages. But, because we go over those above already, it’s worth noting that the brand has plenty to be happy about in the present day as well.

The spirit of innovation and considerate design that we see with the older models is very prevalent in the most recent crop of adidas releases. The Ultra Boost plays a pivotal role in pushing the envelope when it comes to runners.

The NMD model is in a rare category of shoes that can take away from the Jordan hype train. The list goes on and on, but it reveals something quite telling.

adidas Consortium NMD CS1 United Arrows & Sons Primeknit

The United Arrows and Sons take on the City Sock 1

Putting together a list of the best selling adidas shoes of all time shows that there is an air of consistency in the brand’s design philosophy. From the early days of suede and synthetics to the current stock of Primeknit and Boost, the Three Stripes continue to push forward.

Of course, there are concerns on the horizon. The Boost cushioning works wonders for some, but there are complaints from some consumers.

The material, though elite in its build, creates an allegedly harmful energy return. Then, there’s the somewhat fickle nature of knit uppers, often sacrificing durability for the sake of style.

But, we mention those concerns only to remain realistic. It’s worth noting that they’re a very small minority in the grand scheme of things and pale in comparison to all of the progress adidas has made.

This list of the best selling adidas shoes of all time is going to get a whole lot longer soon enough.

adidas Brand Print Pack: Four New Colorways https://cultedge.com/adidas-brand-print-pack/ https://cultedge.com/adidas-brand-print-pack/#respond Wed, 07 Nov 2018 08:19:48 +0000 https://cultedge.com/?p=47918 adidas Brand Print Pack: Four New Colorways]]> adidas Brand Print Pack

The Three Stripes brand continues to bring the heat this Fall season, opting to release four new colorways on four respective models as part of the adidas ‘Brand Print’ Pack. Though they each come with a unique interpretation, the visuals are quite familiar and represent some of what we see from the brand on a more regular basis.

Around this time of year, the dark and more neutral tones are quite popular. Considering how easy it is for these adidas silhouettes to look sharp in these colorways, it’s a good season to be dropping these iterations.

adidas ZX500 Triple Black Boost RM

The brand’s ZX series has been a historical benchmark for quite some time now. Before the BOOST madness and NMD craze, this is where much of Three Stripes experimentation happens when it comes to sneaker tech. With a design that reaches back into the 80s, the ZX 500 RM Triple Black Boost is a modern update.

Originally, this design comes together as the result of biomechanical research. Countless runners are part of this design study from back in the early to mid-80s. Here, the newest version of this shoe sports much of the same tooling – including a mesh upper with suede overlays.

Of course, the BOOST midsole is a more contemporary and welcome innovation. Logo print appears on the upper as a special note from this pack.

adidas POD-S3.1 Black

The adidas POD s31 Triple Black continues a series of clean looks for this futuristic model. As part of this special pack, the script on the upper reads “Point of Deflection.” The shoe itself sports a knit base along with retro details such as overlays of TPU and suede.

A midfoot bridge adds to its already impressive support profile while the POD cushion system segments the midsole.

adidas Sobakov Black/Pink

The adidas Sobakov Black Pink combination is an aesthetic we’re quite familiar with. The brand makes a habit of employing these visuals, most recently with a special EQT release. It translates well onto the Sobakov model here in this adidas Brand Print Pack, adding a hint of pink to what is otherwise mostly a pack of adidas triple black models.

The asymmetrical knit upper boasts reflective Three Stripes detailing. We also see the shoe’s name as a special lateral script. The heel tab shows up in a smooth leather. Finally, a gum midsole finishes things off with a distinctive pattern.

adidas EQT Support Mid ADV Black

The EQT line is a quiet success for adidas. As you can tell from some of the above models, this particular branch of adidas is about bringing back a function-first ethos. As such, models like the EQT Support Mid ADV stand out.

The upper comes in a Primeknit and textile base. It also boasts overlays of nubuck for an additional retro effect. This results in a sock-like, one-to-one fit that doesn’t lack in support. The midsole is another interesting element as it’s put together using a compression moulding technique.

As part of the adidas Originals ‘Brand Print’ Pack, the script on these reads the classic EQT phrase, “Everything that is essential.” Get ready to cop this piece of the pack early as it’s available now at select retailers. The adidas POD-S3.1, ZX 500 and Sobakov will be available soon.

The Best Tennis Shoes: 15 Models https://cultedge.com/best-tennis-shoes/ https://cultedge.com/best-tennis-shoes/#respond Sat, 28 Jul 2018 08:00:31 +0000 https://cultedge.com/?p=47313 The Best Tennis Shoes: 15 Models]]> Kitting yourself out in the best tennis shoes can be difficult. Though it’s a sport of singular bodies, there are lots of factors to consider. Picking out your gear is similar to the sport in that way. In singles matches, each person is their own team but they have hundreds of considerations going through their mind.

It just so happens that this is especially true when picking your kicks. So, we put together our list of the best tennis footwear pieces available right now. View the best shoes for tennis below.

Best Nike:

Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5

Federer’s Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5. Image Credit: Nike

Since we’re talking about all of the new tech in the industry, this feels like a good way to kick off our list. The best shoes for tennis often find a way to help a shoe feel more natural. The Nike Zoom Vapor does a fantastic job of achieving that. The upper is in a Flyknit construction while also sporting a dynamic fit system.

Though this is a bit of a standard feature, Nike tennis shoes benefit from this setup directly. The combination of the brand’s elite woven upper and customizable fit make this one of the best shoes for playing tennis at any level. The Federer association also helps!

Nike Air Zoom UltraFly

Nike Zoom UltraFly. Image Credit: Nike

Another gem from the folks over at Nike. The Air Zoom UltraFly is an intriguing experiment. The traditional shape of tennis shoes involves a low profile and proximity to the court. Here, we see that same ethos but with an extra twist. Nike throws on a “SockLite” ankle collar to really emphasize the shoe’s fit.

Beyond that, the additional 1-to-1 feel helps to support you when making those sharp lateral moves from end to end. To top things off, we also get a nice helping of Zoom cushioning for those leaping shots.

Best tennis shoes:

adidas Barricade

Stan Smith – find themselves not stressing over their shoe choice.

Stan Smith. Image Credit: CNN

As this changes, the most pivotal point in tennis sneaker history happens to be between the 70s and 90s. The former witnesses a massive change that seems quite little today. In the late 60s, tennis is going through a special time for the sport. 1968 sees perhaps the most important moment in the sport’s history: The Open Era begins.

Collectively, the governing competitive bodies in tennis decide to allow professionals and amateurs to compete for Grand Slam titles. Aside from the implications for the sport itself, there is something more evident that comes to pass. Suddenly, tennis is a sport in which one can rise to stardom.

Bringing amateurs and pros together creates a large collective stage that draws in many fans all over the world. Usually, that signals the advent of big sponsorship dollars. As we trek into the early 1970s, the beginnings of this sponsorship boom take place.

Most agree that Stan Smith’s work with adidas is the most crucial when discussing tennis footwear. Those early days are when adidas releases the first of the sport’s shoe in leather. This concept originally debuts to some shock, awe, and even confusion.

Adidas Stan smith Vintage OG Green

The Stan Smith, more form than function these days.

The best tennis shoes at the time are combinations of rubber and canvas, and it makes sense. Rubber on the soles brings fantastic traction and grip properties. Canvas uppers are a staple of performance footwear even in basketball thanks to their stretch and lightweight properties. So, you can imagine that an all-leather shoe is quite surprising to players and fans alike.

From that, we move on to the 80s and 90s, when more brands try their luck. Nike faces their boldest move in 1986. John McEnroe is in desperate need of a new sneaker and the brand gets going on some initial designs. They struggle at first to impress the world’s most dynamic player at the time.

Neale Fraser. Image Credit: ATP

The design and performance team at Nike feel they’ve sent over the best tennis shoes as options. McEnroe remains unconvinced. Eventually, he spots a certain sneaker concept that catches his eye. McEnroe describes this blueprint in many interviews as a “throwaway” that Nike didn’t plan on showing him.

He absolutely falls for it and wears the prototype to tournaments against the advice of the Nike crew, including Tinker himself. Not only does McEnroe love the shoe, Nike decides to run with it – and that is how we get the legendary Air Trainer 1.

Nike Air Trainer 1 OG. Image Credit: Nike

In the years to follow, we witness a rise of footwear innovations in the sport. The Stan Smiths and Air Trainer models are now style icons. You’re more likely to spot a pair of the former on a runway than on any tennis court.

Despite this, the sport’s footwear is in a wonderful state at the moment. The best tennis shoes on the planet compete every single day through the use of new technology and features. These days, terms like torsional support, protective toe-caps, and knit uppers are standard.

Fortunately, our list of the best tennis shoes available right now is here to help you make the right choice.

Best Tennis Sneakers: Try Everything

best tennis shoes

Though this isn’t a bad place to get started, it’s worth remembering that the best way to know what shoe suits you best is simply to try on as – and play in – as many as possible!

BAPE x adidas Samba Camo: The Casual Hype https://cultedge.com/bape-x-adidas-originals-samba-camo/ https://cultedge.com/bape-x-adidas-originals-samba-camo/#respond Tue, 03 Apr 2018 09:48:33 +0000 https://cultedge.com/?p=41537 BAPE x adidas Samba Camo: The Casual Hype]]> BAPE x adidas Samba Camo will be a thing

Supreme_leaks_news has announced that streetwear pinnacle BAPE is set to release the adidas Samba Camo. The very much hyped BAPE x adidas samba Camo is for sure bound to happen. This will basically be yet another collaboration with adidas Originals during 2018. Most probably this will be part of their on-going Spring / Summer collection.

This will for sure be another model to include in upcoming and all-time best camo sneakers list. The model selected by the two brands is the adidas Samba. The picture shown however is just a mockup displaying BAPE’s signature print made by snrkmob. Again, the colorway is still a mystery.

Nevertheless, we can have a pretty solid idea of how they should turn out. Stay tuned to get to know more about the upcoming BAPE x adidas Samba Camo.

Almost 70 Years of Samba

Originally developed to assist footballers that were training in icy conditions when the ground became frozen, the silhouette is one of the highest selling among adidas catalogue. Nowadays, the same show is still worn by many indoor football players.

A lot of colorways have been released. And apart from all collaborations and limited releases, we sure favor the black with three white stripes AKA OG colorway.

Launched in 1950, there is barely any other shoe that can withstand such history. Even if different versions were released (such as the Samba Millennium and the Samba ’85) the model itself is a great example of how a so-called “simple” shoe transcends time.

Made popular during the 80s due to the “casuals”, the shoe features a soft leather upper, and a high-traction rubber outsole. They have also been in production for over 65 years, which makes them one of the oldest models around.

While you’re still here, have a look at the 10 Best adidas Gazelle colorways available now and also at the best adidas UltraBOOST available to buy now.

Sneakersnstuff just released a totally exclusive adidas Originals EQT ADV Pack. We all know about the long-lasting relationship between adidas and Sneakersnstuff, there is no other way around the SNS x adidas thing.

Both have been working together for quite a while, releasing exclusive collaborations throughout time and across the globe. Even if this pack is not a real “adidas sneakers n stuff” collaboration, per say, it is exclusive to their locations yet again.

Both giants have worked together to introduce this pack, also with two recent adidas Originals models. The first model is the adidas Originals EQT Support Mid AVD in Primeknit.

SNS x adidas Originals: Back from the 90s

Inspired by the Equipment Line introduced in the early 90s, the silhouette pays a deserved tribute to that same heritage. It is all done by revamping the classic Equipment Support sports line with up-to-date and modern-tech details and materials.

You will be able to walk and remain snug due to its sock-like Primeknit on-feet adaptive upper. Displaying light hues throughout the upper, details are seen in the blue embroidered letters at the heel cage.

Additional features can be seen in the super soft compression molded midsole with integrated Three-Stripes. The second silhouette, part of the same pack, is the adidas Originals EQT Basketball ADV.

Taking its inspiration from the Equipment 93 series, these basketball shoes sculpt the look and layered appearance of a classic on-court sneaker. Its knit upper includes additional synthetic suede side panels and also the signature 3-Stripes webbing tape.

Even if modern looking, they deliver a vintage-inspired style due to its chunky midsole. The Sneakersnstuff Exclusive adidas Originals EQT ADV Pack is available to buy on Sneakersnstuff’s website or at their world-wide location stores.

A Brief History of the Iconic adidas Stan Smith https://cultedge.com/adidas-stan-smith-history/ https://cultedge.com/adidas-stan-smith-history/#respond Thu, 22 Mar 2018 10:26:17 +0000 https://cultedge.com/?p=30750 A Brief History of the Iconic adidas Stan Smith]]> We all know the shoe, but do you really know the adidas Stan Smith history? Well, we will share it with you right now. To tell the story behind the Stan Smith is also to share a greater and better part of sneakers history.

Stan Smith, the tennis player, became one of the main personas within the sports shoe category and almost without noticing (at least at first). Before anything else, most people are for sure asking themselves:

Who is Stan Smith?

stan smith tennis player

What did Stan Smith, this American and former tennis player do to become so special for a sportswear brand? There is a special distinction that comes with going from substance to style.

When a sneaker transitions completely from the realm of performance to that of fashion, it’s pretty special. You don’t have to spend much time thinking to come up with a list of such models.

But, that list will no doubt include, if not be led by, one of the most recognizable silhouettes of all time: the adidas Originals Stan Smith. Because this is a shoe that even the casual sneakerhead sees every day, it’s easy to miss on its significance.

Like most sneakers, popular or otherwise, there’s a story behind the Stan Smith that adds sentimental value. With its original release back in 1963, this model owes its first name to Robert Haillet.

Who was Robert Haillet?

Robert Haillet adidas

Haillet, the French tennis star, was relevant enough to carry the new sneaker all on his own. But, still, adidas goes on to make an interesting – and fateful – decision.

Going after slightly bigger fish, the brand enlists the shoe’s eventual namesake, American superstar Stan Smith. Not only did the brand successfully ink a world-famous champion to a sponsorship deal, they earned some street cred in America after being a mainly Euro brand.

They may not have known it at the time, but adidas had also started on their road to fashion relevance. Frankly, that’s the very definition of irony.

adidas typical turns into modern:

Simply put, the sneaker’s namesake was as far from being a style icon as a middle-aged, mustachioed man could be. Aesthetically, Smith was the typical tennis player of his era.

His pictures often show a monochrome ensemble that borders on bland. Yet, the shoe now stands on a platform that includes other legendary fashion pieces.

adidas stan smith og

Are Stan Smiths made with real leather?

Most models and versions are in fact made with real leather. Functionally, there isn’t much to the adidas Stan Smith.

A full real leather upper, usually in White, shows some stitching details and little else. We also usually see an achilles section that sports padding and some color variation.

The cushion, as with bold design details, is virtually nonexistent in the OG. As such, this isn’t a shoe you’ll see tennis players actually use.

Then again, that’s not why this shoe is so relevant, is it? From subtle performer to the ubiquitous style icon we know today, the adidas Stan Smith goes through quite the shift. The adidas Stan Smith history is for sure a rich one.

In fact, most associate the tennis legend with the shoe before even considering his record of Grand Slam titles. In an interesting twist, the style very handily beats style.

And, frankly, as far as this sneaker is concerned, most of us in the sneaker-loving community wouldn’t have it any other way. You’ll want to avoid hitting the courts with these, but you’d be hard-pressed to find an outfit that can’t be finished off with a crisp pair of Stans.

One more adidas Stan Smith is never enough

adidas has released hundreds, if not thousands of versions of the Stan Smith. During recent years there have been some interesting iterations such as the Made in Germany pack, a wool ‘winterized’ version, or a minimalistic one, presented as the Leather Sock.

The truth is that even if there are countless ways to look at the shoe, adidas managed to keep its ethos completely intact. There is no way around a silhouette that more than often embodies the very significance of ‘white sneakers’ as we know it.

Sneakers like Stan Smith, so unique and distinct, are basically hard to find. Even if it is with super cool interpretations like the ones done by Raf Simons, or more colorful like the one with BEDWIN & the HEARTBREAKERS signature there seems to be no way around Stan Smith’s originality.

You can find adidas Stan Smith sneakers available to buy at adidas.com and also at sites like Sneakersnstuff, Caliroots or END. Clothing.

The adidas Originals Forest Hills are set to release, yet again, in the near future. Throughout time, we have witnessed many re-releases. Some models, in particular, are immortal and eternal, and this is the case.

Originally released in the late 70s, the adidas Forest Hills 72 was influenced by quite a few iconic tennis players, the greats from back in the day. Yes, you are right when you think about Martina Navratilova and Rod Laver (another adidas pair that has been resurrected in recent times, part of their vintage classics archive).

The adidas Forest Hills are from the 1970s and ahead of time

adidas originals forest hills

During the late 70s, the adidas Forest Hills were considered rather avant-garde. The silhouette featured ventilation holes on the outer panel, for example. Its fantastic colorway displaying gold and yellow was a true hit on the court.

Moreover, the sneakers’ midsole was developed by NASA, designing it to assure that ultimate comfort and performance was provided. Also, the shoes’ weight is just about 270g. Maybe, and just maybe, we can consider them the to be Boost of the 70s.

Inspired by what it was the home of the US Open Tennis Tournament up ’till 1978, Forest Hills was a neighborhood in Queens, New York City, laying many foundations for the sport of Tennis. Not much has changed since then.

Made with Premium Tumbled Leather

The adidas Originals Forest Hills are still delivered in premium tumbled white leather (the first was built using kangaroo leather) displaying golden three-stripes on the side. In addition, you will be able to notice soft branding on the heel as well as a yellow midsole altogether with a brushed-grey toe-bumper and a hi-tech mesh tongue, perfect for breathability.

The shoes were not just worn during tennis games, on the contrary. During the 80s, the UK football terrace scene was booming, therefore, they quickly grew in popularity among the community.

We sure agree that the adidas Originals Forest Hills has been forgotten by many, but it is never too late to bring them back. Plus, they were also featured in the 2009 British movie ‘Awaydays‘.

About four years ago there was the release of an adidas Originals Forest Hills Vintage. At the time, featuring an all-white version with beige suede detailing. Finally, and if you are an adidas fan, make sure to check out where to buy the Top 10 Best Ultra Boost Uncaged Colorways.

Top 10 Upcoming Sneakers In 2018 https://cultedge.com/top-10-best-upcoming-sneakers-2018/ https://cultedge.com/top-10-best-upcoming-sneakers-2018/#respond Sun, 28 Jan 2018 16:32:09 +0000 https://cultedge.com/?p=38926 Top 10 Upcoming Sneakers In 2018]]> Top 10 Best Upcoming Sneakers 2018

Looking to check out what are going to be the Top 10 Best Upcoming Sneakers 2018? Trying to find that model you just saw over on somebody’s feed on Instagram? Search no more.

Right below you will be able to find our picks.

Nike Air Jordan 3 “Tinker Hatfield” – Releasing on March 24th

Jordan brand has been on the rise, especially with the amount of great retro on-court silhouettes that have been released. From the point where brands are far from slowing down, the brand invited select media to a special event in LA to preview some silhouettes.

This Air Jordan 3 takes inspiration from Tinker’s original sketch of the shoe. Big differences are seen when comparing to the released version such as the swoosh and Nike logos on the upper.

You will also be able to find The Architect’s signature on tongue and insoles as well as the famed Nike Air branding on the heel.

COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Max 180 – Releasing on February 1st

We still remember the time where OG colorways of the AM180 were hitting outlets. Even then, no one would pick them up for 50% of its retail price. Times have changed and these are highly anticipated.

They were seen first hand during the Paris Fashion Week SS18 show. However, some better images have surfaced and a release date has been announced.

Three different iterations shall release, and one is just better than the other. However, they all display “Laser Pink” nylon construction as well as “Solar Red” brandings.

Puma Thunder Spectra – TBA

Puma has been trying really hard to keep up with the latest trends, that’s a fact. We have mixed feelings about this pair in particular, but it sure deserves to be on our list as the brand has never attempted such as thing, at such large scale.

Paying homage to the one and only Alexander McQueen and his collaborative McQ Tech Runner Lo, this silhouette features premium mesh and nubuck on the upper with contrasting colors. An additional shape is given due to its molded TPU midsole.

Virgil Abloh x Nike Air Jordan 1 – TBA

The Nike Air Jordan 1 has immense history behind it. But we shall not get into that. On the other hand, its iteration in red made sure all sneaker enthusiasts went nuts when they were released.

It is rumored that this white version will be a Europe exclusive, but the brand has not given any official word about it. They were debuted at Abloh’s FW18 showcase in Paris Fashion Week.

NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Originals NMD R1 – Releasing on February 24th

NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Originals

When you think that the NMD is a dead silhouette, adidas comes back with another banger and ready to create some hype. After all, no need for introductions when it comes to NEIGHBORHOOD.

They were first seen on the web during mid-2017, but the brand has now confirmed a release date. As anticipated, the NMD features a sock-like black upper with contrasting white stitching as well as the infamous shark-teeth motif around the toebox.

The silhouette sits on top of a full-black BOOST midsole.

STAMPD x BAPE Roadsta – Releasing on February 3rd

This is an odd one, we know. However, from the point where we do not get to see many Roadstas around anymore, we believe that this collaboration deserves a spot on our list.

In fact, we know that this STAMPD iteration will be much more successful than its past-Puma collaborations, for many different reasons.

They are made from a monochromatic black sand print that sits under a shiny-grey patent upper. Remaining true to its DNA, BAPE’s star logo is still found at the side panels.

Sitting on top of a white midsole, each and every single pair will be different due to its varying prints and patterns in the process of making them. For last but not least, even though it does not belong on our list, they should be released altogether with an apparel capsule collection.

atmos x Nike Air Max “Animal Pack 2.0” – Releasing during Air Max Day celebrations

Right, they do not come close to the OG colorways released back in 2006, let’s get that straight. When brands and shops try to revive a particular shoe, they normally do a pretty bad job. Well, at least that is our opinion.

However, this is not the case. atmos long-lasting partnership with Nike comes to life yet again, even though it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Major changes are seen on the black hues around the shoe as well as on the swoosh. They will sell out, either way, you know how it works.

adidas Yeezy Boost 350 v2 “Peanut Butter” – Releasing in June 2018

Not that we fell in love with Yeezys around here, nevertheless, we believe that it helped shape sneaker history as we know it, believe it or not. This colorway, in particular, holds first place when it comes to favorites, at least for us it is.

Yeezy Mafia, known to be at the forefront of every important BOOST release, announced that the “Peanut Butter” will be releasing in June 2018. The Semi Frozen Yellow shall release, but further on in time.

One detail that should be mentioned is the gum-outsole that displays a slightly altered hue of brown from the rest of the upper.

Nike Air Jordan 11 “Concord” – Releasing in October 2018

We know that Jordans are not that popular around Europe, apart from the Jordan 1 and the hype surrounding such pair. Yet, we believe that the AJ11 is one of the greatest on-court silhouettes ever. That’s right, ever.

On that note, from the point where the Concord was re-released only back in 2011, a great comeback is set to happen in 2018. From what we know, Jordan Brand is keeping them as close to the OG as possible, for once. Jordan enthusiasts will love its return.

Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 97/1 – Releasing in March 2018

We know that it has already been released in select locations, nevertheless, the official release will follow the anticipated Air Max Day celebrations. This is the first ever Air Max designed by the community, for the community.

Nike is no stranger when it comes to hybrids, however, this shoe stands out due to its Air Max 97 upper that sits on top of an Air Max 1 midsole. Great mix-and-match of colors and materials is displayed.

The Golden Year of a Golden Era?

Without a doubt 2017 is a year to look back to. From Off-White x Nike releases to Supreme collaborations, from the Air Max 1 new shape to OG retro-runner launches.

The year of 2017 also brought back the dad shoe in many different brands, from Balenciaga to New Balance. Just take your pick, look back, and realize how that same year influenced footwear as a whole.

Sure, not everyone liked the Air Max 98 back then, but brands have been working rather hard to make sure that these releases hit every news outlet. Unfortunately, brands control what we buy, believe it or not.

It is all about a very pretty story where “I only buy and wear what I like”, but we all get sucked into it without noticing.

The Hype is real

As expected brands are not slowing down. They must keep the hype right where it stands. We still believe that it is all about footwear and fashion, but behind the curtains, we have a multi-billion dollar industry.

However, and really, we are not trying to shut down all the big corporations and make you stop wearing Made in Vietnam sneakers, but the so-called “scene” has shifted quite a bit.

Around here, we are not that young anymore (we are not old as well, but let’s leave it to that) so we can actually relate to the past. We still remember when there were no lines or raffles to buy a specific pair.

Or, even more, we remember when sought after pairs of today sat on shelves across the globe. Nowadays, there are even queues for the new iPhone X.

New year, full creative speed

From the very beginning of 2018, as soon as the New Year kicked in, we can guarantee that all brands are still going at full speed. Even the smallest brands of them all are trying to have an impact on this giant world we live in.

On that note, we still believe that it is rather important to create a list of the Top 10 Best Upcoming Sneakers 2018. Yet again, creating a record, or any kind of index for all that matters, is always a complicated task. Make sure to have your say about our selection in the comment box below.

There’s one main reason behind that: they are hyper comfortable, apart from looking sharp.

Aside from all of that, which certainly is impressive, older editions and specific collaborations sell out for crazy amounts of money within the sneaker community and resell online pages. We will not talk about hype, you should know how it works by now.

Where to Buy the Top 10 Best adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged Colorways

Primeknit Forever:

Back in 2015, adidas was set to launch the next big thing. The Primeknit material was already winning fans all over the world. A lot has happened during those times.

There was the Stan Smith overflow and so on, hence adidas decided to shift their game at a pace that was never seen before. We all witnessed that.

Due to its own success, many iterations and variations started to arrive at every selected boutique. Some were received with open arms, while some other color motifs were left behind and started to hit the sales rack.

Nevertheless, the UltraBOOST Uncaged still remains a favourite, for many different reasons. The UltraBOOST was one of the first silhouettes to be tested using the ARAMIS system.

To make it simple for you, Nasa, Boeing and Audi used the same technology to measure vibration, design and ergonomics. Quite interesting, don’t you think?

On that note, we can firmly say that these adidas UltraBoost Uncaged are worth every single penny. Head over to Sneakersnstuff and buy your own pair.

The Return of the EQT https://cultedge.com/adidas-eqt-racing-adv-w-black/ https://cultedge.com/adidas-eqt-racing-adv-w-black/#respond Thu, 11 Jan 2018 18:20:14 +0000 https://cultedge.com/?p=38470 The Return of the EQT]]> adidas EQT Racing ADV W Black

The German sportswear giant brings us the new adidas EQT Racing ADV W Black. The brand continues to reach to its archive for inspiration and with some continuously surprising results.

Nodding to its big brother from the 90s, these adidas EQT Racing ADV shoes surely display some on-feet attitude. It is all mostly due to its two-tone square-mesh upper altogether with its unique lacing system.

In fact, it really resembles the Racing 93 OG model. Perfect for everyday wear, they are sleek and lustrous. Moreover, once on-feet, it is like walking on clouds due to its compression-molded EVA midsole and OrthoLite® sockliner.

On that note, head over to Allike and buy the adidas EQT Racing ADV W Black before they are gone.

Don’t you think that this is just another black adidas. Leather details are seen on the collar, among many other subtle features as you will be able to find out. It is delivered with a burrito tongue for extra comfort and a final touch is given to the branded and red side-stripes.

From the 90s and into the future

Just like any other brand, or most of them, adidas was pretty much in between a rock and a hard place during the 90s. You may think how that is even possible, but the Boost-hype and Kanye West are pretty much recent news.

Years have passed, but as it seems, the three-stripes are going back to their archives quite often in current times. Originally introduced during the early 90s, the EQT line had a great impact when it comes to footwear.

We all know the EQT due to its simplicity: green, white and black colorway for the upper, perfect shape and of course, a silhouette performed just great. From the very beginning, the shoe was considered avant-garde.

One important point to mention about the EQT OG is the fact that its Torsion technology, which allowed your foot to move at the front and at the back separately, was quite an invention back then.

Even now it sounds amazing. Apart from all of that, it marked a start of a new era. What we mean is, adidas had changed their logo with the introduction of the EQT line.

Innovation and quality:

At the forefront of innovation, adidas continues to embrace all of it and in all aspects. That may include materials, technology and so on.

All of it without compromising quality. Even if some may not like them, you may be able to find iterations of the EQT that use a Primeknit construction as, for example.

Nevertheless, times have changed. Plus, we have said before – we love a modern twist on a classic silhouette. In fact, this is exactly what happens with this model.

The brand, and shops, for all that matters, consider this to be a women’s only sneaker, however, we find that this pair, in particular, is quite versatile and genderless.

While you’re here, make sure to check out the super retro vibes of the adidas Forest Hills.
