Soon: Hanon x New Balance U520HNF ‘Fishermans Blues’
Hanon is located in Aberdeen, Scotland, hence paying homage to their fishing-roots together with New Balance. Full of history, Aberdeen’s harbor goes back over 900 years and is one of the oldest existing businesses in the UK.
In addition, Hanon and New Balance have been collaborating for 13 years, so it makes sense that this collaboration comes together with such deep meaning. The chosen model, the New Balance 520, was originally launched during the 70s.
A magical collaboration:
The “Fisherman’s Blues” is inspired by an era where superstition and myth were taken very seriously when traveling and working on the high-sea. Due to very low temperatures and rough sea, some workers would never return home.
As expected, the 520 was drawn with a nautical theme and inspiration, using marine and sea-blue colors across the upper. Details are seen on the perforated leather, dual-branded leather footbed, and a special hang-tag.
In addition, this project took along British photographer Ewen Spencer to create a look-book for this release, spending some time on a vessel with a fishing crew somewhere near Peterhead. Releasing on Saturday 16th of September on Hanon’s website, each pair of the Hanon x New Balance U520HNF “Fisherman’s Blues” will come with a special box, extra laces, branded tissue paper and a limited edition dust-bag.
